Makeup Lessons with MakeupbyRachael

I have been desperate for makeup lessons with Rachael ever since I’d been going to her studio for makeup. After seeing the amazing makeup creations she had done on my face I really wanted to be able to create similar looks and learn her makeup tips. When I received 3 makeup lessons as a christmas present last year (which I ended up using within 2 months) I was so excited to get started and learn from Rachael.

On the day she had organised a model, accompanied with all the makeup and brushes you could only dream of. She was also able to make sure I could do the makeup lesson on a specific day which I really appreciated. Rachael’s friendly way always made me feel at ease whilst showing me each application, technique and lesson executed. She knew what suited certain skin tones and facial features and the makeup trends on the market at the moment.

The lesson started with the eyes/eyebrows and I was shown each step and technique whilst using different brushes and motions to get the best outcome. This included the art of controlling the brush to give you the look you want. As Rachael done one section of the eye, I copied it on the other side, this continued onto the face with the base, contour & highlight as well as body makeup. I wasn’t afraid to ask questions, and with her guidance managed to maintain and copy the application that she had created on the other side of the model‘s face. She also corrected or complimented the newly found makeup skill.

I was shown the best products to use and was pleasantly surprised when they weren’t the high – end expensive designer makeup. I ordered these in the next week.

In makeup I lacked techniques with using eyeshadow and often shied away from colours other than a light brown when applying my own eyeshadow. Rachael got me to use different shades that I wasn’t used to but ultimately showed me not to be afraid and by blending consistently, to make it work.

Every look was different and we even completed a look on myself. This was to show the differences with completing a look on myself and others’ but maintaining the same high level of application. I learned so many different techniques when applying a specific product and the part it plays by emphasising or highlighting certain parts of the face or facial feature.
